Front Foyer Hutch

So if you have read my “About Me“, you know that my husband and I like to bid on the occasional storage unit as well as go dumpster diving for treasure (I’m not a hoarder, I’m not a hoarder, I’m not a hoarder). This dresser / hutch was from a storage unit. Not much to look at but was in great structural shape yet unsellable. I suddenly had a new project, I was going to refinish this dresser with hutch.

At first this was going to go into our extra bedroom, (the if-I-ever-get-pregnant, when/if it is in God’s plan, nursery; AKA monkey room). I had it all planned out to be in bold, primary colors. I even made a mock-up…wanna see?

Yeah…it was gonna be colorful. Ah well, that is not what I did. I changed my mind, as I tend to do, a lot. My train turned in a completely different direction. I had been looking for something for my front foyer, something with shelves, a place to put keys, and something with storage. I LOVE storage! The funny thing is, most of my cabinets, boxes, drawers, closets, and chests are pretty empty. I just like the thought of being able to put things in them, if I want. Back to the hutch…I switched gears and took a few more days, a few more days, and about another week or two to decide what I was going to do with this piece of furniture to make it work in my foyer.

Voila! Here ya have it. Total change of course on the hutch.

Please ignore the crap that is on it, I had not decided yet what or how the decor arrangement would be. I can’t say that I have quite decided that even as of yet, so I really don’t have a better image.

I am still undecided (story of my life) as to whether I am going to add more embellishments to it, maybe something on the drawers, or maybe just one of them, hmm…for now it’s good. I like it. I have received many compliments on it, and it serves all of the purposes for which I needed it: shelves, storage, and hooks for keys.

I would love to know what you think, love it or hate it?
